InTime

Giving you the freedom to relate the lives of famous people and the unfolding of historical events, as well as writing your diary.

InTime is not just a simple timeline, but rather a tool for storytelling: whether it be the story of a famous person, an artistic movement or a historical event. InTime makes it possible to create fluid timelines, full of text, images and videos and to update the content using RSS technology. You can choose from several different templates and personalise colours and fonts.

InTime generates a webpage that can be embedded and published onto your website.

 

Some of the App’s features

It’s free for non-profit and personal use. (For more information please consult the end-user license agreement).
Ask for a three-month trial membership and the log-in information will be sent to you.
It’s possible to create timelines about any time period using three temporal levels: e.g. decade, year, day.
Wide selection of historical documents to help you make your timeline.
Experimental support available on request for special projects.
Create a webpage to publish onto your site.

How to use InTime

Below you will find a short tutorial explaining how to use the InTime application.

Log into the App (username and password) and, once inside the system, click on ‘new timeline’ and type the name of your project along with an acronym and a subheading. You can choose the time period now (if you already have a clearly defined idea of your project) or leave it in ‘automatic’ and choose later. Finally, click on ‘insert timeline’.

Click on ‘new story’ to create a template referring to a year, month or day on your timeline, made up of a title, a date (which can be viewed in various ways) and a simple of formatted text; you can insert images or links to a video that has already been uploaded (eg. on Youtube).

4. You can create new ‘stories’ and, by clicking on the space between two existing stories, insert a ‘chapter’ to begin a new topic.

By going onto ‘settings’ you can insert a cover photo and modify your timeline’s titles.

6. At this point you can click on ‘publish’ to change your ‘graphic theme’ and copy (below) the ‘embed code’ to your website.

You can embed the code onto the HTML of your chosen website, or just paste the address onto your blog or Facebook page.
